She has specialized expertise in auditing not-for-profit organizations.
Prior to joining Relevante, Deborah served as a Senior Manager for BDO Seidman, LLP. There, she provided audit, accounting, advisory and due diligence services to numerous industries including: not-for-profit, manufacturing (domestic and international), distribution, railroad, radio broadcasting, mortgage financing, and insurance and healthcare.
She is a frequent speaker on topics including not-for-profit financial statements, cost allocation plans for financial and tax reporting, internal controls and fraud, technical not-for-profit and governmental updates, and OMB Circular A-133 and Yellow Book audits. Agnes Peraino, CISA and president of Senga Technology LLC, concluded the symposium with a presentation on IT Auditing: Using GAIT Methodology and Principles to Ease Section 404 Work.

The second day course – ACL501 – Understanding ACL: A Manager’s Perspective – focused on the use of ACL software for audit managers and consisted of eight CPE credits. Attendees were introduced to the software and gained the necessary background to successfully implement, manage and assess the deployment of ACL in their organizations.
The ACL instructor, Dustin Lewis, conducted a workshop that included various data analysis as applied to Accounts Payable and Purchasing areas. The presentation illustrated methods to identify inconsistencies between purchase orders and invoices, snapshots tricks to detect duplicate vendor payments and trend analysis by employee, product, or vendor. Additional benefits of having attended the ACL course included understanding how ACL data analytics software can improve the effectiveness of internal controls, enhanced bottom-line performance and point to improvements needed in business processes
