June 2008 Conducting Interviews And Exit Meetings – THE CHALLENGES AND BENEFITS
Horsham, PA, June 9, 2008: Relevante, Inc., a leading consulting and contracting firm which focuses on serving financial institutions, will be presenting a seminar entitled Conducting Audit Interviews and Exit Meetings. The session will be presented at The Bank of New York Mellon New York and Pittsburgh locations.

The program will include information on how to set the tone of the interview, body language and how to pose questions. Relevante will also address dealing with difficult auditees, classic indicators that someone is not being truthful and how to present issues in an exit interview. This will be an interactive session where participation from the audience is encouraged. May 2008 Relevante repeats as 8th largest management consulting firm in Philadelphia
Horsham, PA, May 21, 2008: Relevante, Inc., a leading provider of accounting and technology consulting solutions, today announced that the Philadelphia Business Journal ranked the company as the 8th Largest Management Consulting Firm in Philadelphia. The list ranks firms in the region based on the number of local consultants. Relevante has 85 local consultants with 95 companywide. The recognition marks the third consecutive year that Relevante has placed 8th on the list.

May 2008 Relevante shares findings from Profit Management Survey
Horsham, PA, May 20, 2008: There is no quick fix or immediate turn around in profitability by implementing short-term strategies, according to 2008 Profit Management Survey conducted by Relevante, Inc. 25% of the survey respondents were from the Professional Services Industry followed by 21% in Manufacturing. Out of the total respondents, 14% were Controllers and 12% were CEOs. The survey covered a variety of questions pertaining to Managing Profitability in Changing Economic Times.

Approximately 76% of the respondents felt that “Improving after-sales service” is a highly valuable short-term strategy. Nearly 63% of the respondents felt that “Reducing selling, general and administrate expenses” is also a highly valuable short-term strategy.

92% of the survey respondents believe that “Inventing new products and services” is a highly valuable long-term strategy. Additionally, 91% of the respondents agreed that “Investment to improve staff skills” is also a highly valuable long-term strategy.

In summary, the majority of respondents consider both revenue and cost based strategies more valuable in long-term rather than in short-term.

Horsham, PA. He then joined the FDIC for six years, where he was an Assistant Regional Inspector General. Next, he spent six years in the railroad industry with CSX and AMTRAK. Most recently, Gary was with Jefferson Wells for four years, performing internal audits and SOX audit engagements for clients in the Philadelphia area.

February 2008 Jeffrey Pavacic and Donald Voltz join Relevante Consulting Team
Horsham, PA, February 21, 2008: Relevante, Inc., a leading provider of accounting and technology consulting solutions, is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Pavacic, CPA, PMP and Donald Voltz, MS, have joined its consulting team. Jeffery will serve as a Managing Consultant for Audit Solutions and Donald as a Senior Consultant. Jeffrey began is career with Coopers & Lybrand in New York. After rising to Senior Auditor, he moved to Philip Morris, Inc. as a Budget Analyst. He next joined North American Philips Corp. as a Budget Analyst, and then became a Division Controller. He moved into banking, joining Citibank as a Division Controller, followed by 13 years with Merrill Lynch in Plainsboro, NJ, holding multiple positions. His next career phase was as Engagement Manager for two IT firms. In 2004, Jeffrey moved into SOX consulting, working with several top consulting firms as an Audit Manager and Senior Director.

Jeffrey is a CPA (NY) and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He received his B.S. in Accounting from St. John’s University. Jeffrey is also a member of the AICPA and the PMI (Project Management Institute).

After receiving his B.S. from Bentley College in Waltham, MA, Donald started his career with Scott Paper in Boston as an Accounting Trainee. He moved to Scott’s facility in Westbrook, ME as a Capital Accountant & A/P Supervisor, and then was promoted to a Material and Wood Accountant. After three years in Maine, he moved to Scott’s corporate HQ in Philadelphia where he spent four years as a Senior Internal Auditor.

Donald moved to Foamex International after Scott Paper, where he spent the last 22 years rising through the organization in roles of Manager of Manufacturing Accounting, Operations Controller, Controller of the Automotive SBU, Director of Corporate Planning, Controller of the Consumer Products Group, and Director of Internal Audit. While at Foamex, Donald received an MS in Organization Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Donald lives in Wilmington, DE and is active in several community and religious organizations.

Horsham, PA, January 2, 2008: Relevante, Inc., a leading provider of accounting and technology solutions, today announced that Deborah Bacon, CPA, Managing Consultant for Relevante, will guide the next PANO (Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations) training session titled “Financial Roundtable.” The program will be held at the PICPA Education Center on Tuesday, January 15, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. PICPA Education Center is located at 1650 Arch Street, 17th floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

This is the second in a series of roundtable discussions developed by the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA), PANO, and Community Accountants. “Financial Roundtable” is designed to essentially help participants understand what their financial reports say about their organization and how to utilize the financial statements and 990s to help achieve their organization’s mission.

Deborah Bacon has over 23 years of experience providing audit, accounting, tax, consulting and advisory services to entities in various industries. She has specialized expertise in auditing not-for-profit organizations. Deborah is the current president of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter, PICPA.
